By Car
From the south the route runs along the A7 motorway to Schleswig and from there on the B201 towards Kappeln. Shortly before Kappeln you leave the main road for the smaller lanes along the Schlei.
From Hamburg allow around two hours depending on traffic. The final stretch through Angeln is the loveliest part of the whole journey — take the twenty minutes and drive slowly.
By Train
The nearest railway station is Süderbrarup on the line between Kiel and Flensburg. From there it is one short final leg by taxi or hire car.
Honestly: without a car on site it is doable but inconvenient. This area lives on its small roads, and the supermarket, the beaches and the sights lie apart from one another. If you plan simply to arrive and stay put, you will manage well without one.
By Air
The nearest major airport is Hamburg. From there it is a drive of about two hours — take a hire car at the airport, which is far simpler than any combination of train and taxi.
For guests from Scandinavia it is worth looking at the Danish side: across the border at Flensburg the final leg is short, and the route through Angeln is considerably more pleasant than the motorway.
Arriving and Leaving
Check-in is from 4 pm, check-out by 10 am please. The key is kept in a key safe at the house — you will receive the code in good time before your arrival.
That means you are not tied to a handover and nobody is waiting for you. Arrive whenever suits you, as long as it is after 4 pm.
Parking and Charging
The house has two outdoor parking spaces directly at the property. So there is nothing to look for and nobody to block in.
For electric cars there is a wallbox — charge overnight and start the drive home with a full battery. The garage also has room for a table tennis table, which turns out to be worth a great deal on rainy days.
One Thing to Sort Out Beforehand
The shops are in Kappeln, a few minutes away. If you are arriving late in the evening, it is better to shop on the way — on the Schlei the shops close earlier than city habits suggest.
The kitchen is fully equipped, from the wine glasses to a properly good knife. All you need to bring is food; bed linen and towels are provided.
