The questions we are asked most often before a booking — answered here so that you need not write.
What does a stay cost?
The nightly rate starts at €235 in the low season and depends on the season and the length of your stay. A one-off final cleaning fee of €238 is added. The rate covers up to four guests — there is no per-person surcharge. The exact calculation is shown in the booking portal.
Is there a visitor's tax?
No. No visitor's tax is charged in Karschau.
What is the minimum stay?
The minimum stay depends on the season and ranges from two to seven nights. The longer periods apply in high season and over New Year.
When can I arrive and when must I leave?
Check-in is from 4 pm, check-out by 10 am please. The key is kept in a key safe at the house; you will receive the code in good time before arrival. No handover in person is needed — you arrive whenever suits you.
How many people is the house designed for?
A maximum of four guests, in two bedrooms each with a 180 × 200 cm double bed. That is a deliberate choice: across 110 m² of living space it means the house never feels crowded, even in bad weather.
Are dogs or other pets allowed?
No, pets are not permitted at Karschau 11. We know this rules the house out for some guests, which is why we would rather say so plainly in advance.
Is smoking allowed in the house?
No, Karschau 11 is a non-smoking house. Because of the thatched roof, open fire is also prohibited anywhere on the property — including charcoal grills and fire bowls.
Can we barbecue?
Yes, there is an Enders electric grill on the terrace. It is a full replacement for a charcoal grill and, given the thatched roof, the only permissible solution.
We are travelling with a small child — is there a high chair?
A high chair is available. Do let us know in advance so that it is ready when you arrive.
Can I swim and fish from the property?
Both, yes. The property includes around 90 metres of private waterline with a natural path down to the water. Swimming is permitted, and so is fishing, provided you hold a valid fishing licence. There is no private jetty.
May I bring a boat, canoe or surfboard?
Yes. Boats, canoes and surfboards are welcome; you launch from your own shore, as there is no jetty. Kitesurfing and windsurfing are permitted as well.
How good is the internet?
Very good. The Wi-Fi meets the WiFi 7 standard and delivers up to 220 Mbit/s. Both bedrooms have a glass desk beneath the dormer window — working with a view across the Schlei is no compromise here.
How do I get here without a car?
The nearest railway station is Süderbrarup on the Kiel–Flensburg line; the last leg is by taxi. On site, though, a car is useful, since the shops, beaches and sights lie apart from one another.
Are bed linen and towels included?
Yes. The beds are made up when you arrive — high-quality mattresses and hotel-grade linen — and towels are provided. All you need to bring is food.
Is there a washing machine?
The house has a washer-dryer, so washing and drying happen in one machine. An iron is available too. On longer stays or with children, that is the difference between a holiday and suitcase logistics.
Can I charge my electric car?
Yes, a wallbox is installed at the house. You charge overnight in your own parking space and set off home with a full battery. The house has two outdoor parking spaces in total.
How well equipped is the kitchen?
Fully, with Siemens StudioLine appliances: induction hob with integrated downdraft extractor, oven, dishwasher, coffee machine and fridge-freezer. Crockery, glassware and cooking equipment are there for four people, at a quality that supports a multi-course dinner.
Where do I book, and how do I cancel?
Bookings are handled by our portal schleiblick.de, which also manages the contract, payment and cancellation terms. The terms that apply to your booking are shown there.
